Dog Fence Installation Guide

Think that a dog fence is only available with wires to bury or in wireless form with a less controlled range? Guess again. Worried that an above ground installation will hinder performance? Not so. An above ground installation will not decrease the effectiveness of the system being used. The only problem with an above ground installation is a potential safety hazard if the proper precautions are not taken. To ensure a safe installation of your dog fence, you will need to use Securing Staples. With the use of Securing Staples, you can keep the wire flushed to the ground and avoid a tripping hazard. Be sure to follow the directions below and read over the instruction manual that comes with your dog fence.

  • Step 1:

The first step is to lay out the boundary wire to form the area you want your invisible fence to be. Run the twisted wire to the transmitter and plug it in.

  • Step 2:

Take the Securing Staples and hammer one onto and not into the wire, about every five to six feet from each other. When finished, look for any raised areas. If there are any raised spaces, then use the staples to secure them to the ground. The wire must be completely flushed to the ground.

  • Step 3:

Place a stable where the twisted wire and the beginning of the dog fence meet. If there is a splice in the wire, be sure to bury it about two inches deep. Place a staple in front and behind the splice to relieve any pressure.

  • Step 4:

Walk to each corner of the yard and place a staple there as well. If the yard is not square, pick out sections that will act as anchor points. Continue adding staples to any areas that might require it. The goal is to avoid a potential tripping hazard.
